NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS
The BV-WHA newsletter editor is Melanie Harris. If you have information you believe should
be communicated to the neighborhood or addressed in future newsletters, please
email Melanie at bvwhanews@yahoo.com.
JUNE: The Yard-of-the-Month for June was selected. The General Membership meeting has been postponed until August and will feature a "green" theme.
MAY: The Yard-of-the-Month for May has been selected and the Calloway's sign is in place until June's selection is made. Also, the annual Garage Sale
took place on May 1. There weren't many sales throughout the neighborhood this year.
BV-WHA also contracted with a shred service for homeowners to destroy
papers, cd's and credit cards for a small fee.
APRIL: The Fort Worth Cow Town Clean-up took place on April 10. Members turned out to remove litter along John T. White from Eastchase to Randol Mill and south on Randol Mill to the bridge. The roadway to our neighborhood is a pleasure to drive after this event takes place. Thanks to all of you who participated.
MARCH: The General Member Meeting was held on March 9. There
was an excellent turnout to hear from our Neighborhood Police Officer
LonNita Wiggins. The focus of the meeting was crime and security. Photos from the meeting can be found in our photo gallery. The BV-WHA
is creating a security task group to make recommendations to the
membership on steps to take to enhance the safety of our neighborhood. If you are a paid member of the BV-WHA and would like to participate on this group, please send an email to bvwha@earthlink.net.
FEBRUARY: The February 2010 BV-WHA Newsletter was emailed
to BV-WHA members. A 2010 calendar of events for BV-WHA is now available
on the website. The General Member meeting was cancelled due to weather.
DECEMBER: The Holiday Open House event on December 10 was a great success! Thank you to all the hosts who graciously opened their homes. Photos of the event can be found in the BV-WHA Photo Gallery.
NOVEMBER: The first newsletter for the member year was delivered via email to members. This is the first newsletter prepared by our new editor, Melanie Harris.
OCTOBER: The 2010 Board of Directors of BV-WHA were elected
this month. They are Penny Langstrand, president; Mary Palomares, vice
president; Linda Lummus, treasurer; Roxanne Conrad, secretary; Connie Sawatzky,
recruiter; and Jay Mapston, immediate past president. Non-voting Board
participants are Melanie Harris, newsletter editor; Ann Caldwell, Yard-of-the-Month
coordinator; John Langstrand, median landscaping/mowing; and Lynn Curnutt,
webmaster. Board meetings are held the first Wednesday of each
month with the exception of July and August.
We've added a new feature to our site — pictures of neighborhood meetings and events. If you see any captions on these photos that you feel should be corrected, please email Lynn Curnutt. Also, if you have any photos of official BV-WHA events that we may not have, please let Lynn know. We hope you enjoy this new feature!
Yard of the Month
BV-WHA partners with Calloway's Nursery for our Yard-of-the-Month (YOM) program. Members of BV-WHA receive monthly gardening tips from Calloway's. Only those homeowners whose membership dues are current
are eligible for consideration for Yard-of-the-Month. We start up again in April 2010. Monthly recipients receive a Calloway's gift certificate. Ann Caldwell, a BV-WHA member, heads up a small team to determine the monthly YOM award winner.
Here are our 2009 recipients. We value our participation in this "Good Neighbor" program.
